Dr. Shivanjali Shankaran is an Associate Professor in the Infectious Diseases division at Rush University Medical Center. She specializes in general infectious diseases with a particular interest in caring for people living with HIV. She also conducts clinical research in HIV and, with the recent pandemic, has been involved in emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases management and clinical research. Dr. Shankaran is the principal investigator in the Tecovirimat expanded access Investigational New Drug program, wherein she works with the Chicago Department of Public Health in the treatment of human monkeypox virus infection. She is also the site principal investigator in the new AIDS Clinical Trials Group (ACTG) study evaluating the use of Tecovirimat in the treatment of human monkeypox virus infection.
